Overview
Parking allows Avid and Apple editors to read and write open
standard files to an archive. 'Parked' files can be subsequently restored
quickly and easily to the original edit system or to any other compatible edit
system. This means people, projects and systems can be flexibly scheduled. This
maximises return on investment of staff and equipment.
 Post
production companies and Post departments in Broadcasters using Avid and Apple
editing systems are constantly looking for new ways to improve quality, reduce
costs and increase productivity.
Editors often need to re-edit programmes days, weeks,
or months after the initial edit has finished. Or projects started on one
system may need to be finished on another. Also schedules can change rapidly
and its highly useful to be able to deploy any system, or any person at anytime
on any given project. It isn't practical or cost effective to keep every
sequence timeline that might need re-editing sitting on online high performance
editing storage.
 How it
works
Built on our Media Highway Technology, Parking provides a
simple and fast 'one click' method of moving projects off of dedicated editing
storage to archive and generic low cost storage. Long term archives can then be
made if required to removable tape media, for example for insurance purposes or
for long term library storage.
Essence and metadata, including effects and
audio levels, are kept together to allow an easy reload process whenever work
needs to resume avoiding the need to re-ingest and conform.
 This new workflow
both frees up editing storage on a day to day basis and allows Post houses and
departments to actively manage clients libraries, bringing clients back again
and again to make re-edits and re-versioning - a source of revenue.
 Because Parking
archives in the open MXF OP1A format wrapped in a TAR file, archives can be
more easily read by other applications or transferred between storage
locations.
